Today was departure day. A drizzly, cloudy day. Four groups set out to meet in Nuevo Laredo by 6pm today to get everything ready for our 6th annual incursion into Mexico. This year's final destination is a first for Motopia, the State of Michoacan.
Rene, Chuck, and Richard in one group pulling 3 motorcycles; Andy, Alicia, Keith, and Tina in another group pulling 2 motorcycles; Charles and Mike in another group pulling 2 motorcycles ... and, what about Joe and Sagy? ... well, they are the recipients of the "Quien Es Mas Macho" award this year ... they decided to ride all the way from Dallas, through rain, cold, and the interminable straight I-35!
Amazingly enough - everybody made it on time for our "all-hands meeting" with all the required papers and permits. Our friends at the hotel were waiting for us and our cars and trailers are set to be well looked after while we are gone. Weather was 70 degrees and sunny.
I am always reminded what a great time of the year this is to do this annual trip to Mexico - right after the holidays, when it is usually cold in Dallas ... everybody is gone, no lines, no hassles, no army or police checkpoints in the middle of nowhere, nice weather ... and complete freedom to just ride! : )
